This is something I’ve been promising to expand on for some time, and I hope to get all of those posts written in the somewhat near future. In the meantime, here’s another quick tip!

Blocking over a Balloon

This method works particularly well for slouchy Hats and even beanies!

1) Soak your Hat in a specialist wool wash bath, rinse, and remove excess water by gently squeezing the Hat.

2) Blow up the balloon until it's about half the size of the Hat and hold between your fingers.

3) Slip the damp Hat over the balloon and continue to blow up the balloon – with the Hat on it! - until it is the desired size. Doing it this way avoids over stretching the brim, which can occur when placing the Hat over a fully sized balloon.

4) Stand on a small vase or plant pot and allow the brim to gently sit and reshape naturally. When the Hat is dry burst the balloon with a pin. Voila!
