Description

Northend is a beanie with a ribbed brim and garter stitch body. At 4 equidistant points around the Hat there are columns of single slipped stitches that grow out of the brim and travel all the way to the centre of the crown. The crown shaping is fitted and invisible.

How to

Using Alternate Cable cast-on method, cast on 64 [72, 80, 88, 96] sts.

Join in the round, being careful not to twist sts. Place stitch marker to indicate start of round.

Brim

Now work K1tbl, P1 rib until work measures 1.75 [2, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75] in/4.5 [5, 5.75, 6.5, 7] cm from cast-on edge.

Body

Rnd 1: *S1, P 15 [17, 19, 21, 23]; rpt from * to end

Rnd 2: *K1tbl, K 15 [17, 19, 21, 23]; rpt from * to end

These two rounds form the Body pattern. Repeat these two rounds until work measures 3.5 [4, 4.5, 5, 5.5] in/9 [10.25, 11.5, 12.75, 14] cm from the cast-on edge, 1.75 [2, 2.25, 2.5, 2.75] in/4.5 [5, 5.75, 6.5, 7] cm from start of Body, section ending after a Rnd 1.

Crown

16in size jump to Rnd 9, 18in size jump to Rnd 7, 20in size jump to Rnd 5, 22in size jump to Rnd 3 and 24in size start at Rnd 1.

Break yarn and draw through remaining 8sts, tighten to close.

Finishing
Weave in all ends. A gentle wash and blocking is required to help the decrease lines settle in and lay flat.
