Picot Cast-on

See this content in the original post

The picot cast-on is a versatile, decorative cast-on that looks perfect around the edges of Hats, cuffs, baby clothes, and much more.

Based on the cable cast-on, the number of stitches cast on can be varied, depending on how much space between each picot you prefer and how small or large you like your picots. You could use a knitted cast-on instead of a cable cast-on for a lacier effect.

1) Using cable cast-on method, cast on 5 stitches.

2) Using regular cast-off (that is, knit 2 stitches, then pass over first stitch and continue), cast off 2 stitches.

3) Pass the stitch on the right hand needle back to the left hand needle – 3 stitches cast on.

4) Repeat steps 1 to 3 until desired number of stitches have been cast on. It's a good idea to end with a cast-on of 2 after the last picot to balance the stitches.
