This striking retro beret is knitted using intarsia and colourwork techniques. The sideways construction means that the colourwork is not as complicated as it may first appear, because the Hat is created by knitting a series of panels.

Pattern instructions include 5 sizes, from 6mths through to large adult.

Sizes:

• To fit size: 16 (18, 20, 22, 24) inches, 41 (45.75, 51, 56, 61) cm
• Finished size: 13.5 (16, 17.25, 20, 22.8) inches, 34.5 (40.75, 44, 51, 58) cm

Materials:

• 50g/125m/136yds of Main colour (MC) DK
  25g/113m/118yds each of 2nd, 3rd & 4th colours
• Pair of 3.75mm straight needles
• Approx. 2m waste yarn
• Gauge 22sts x 28rows to 10cm/4inches

• Stranded colourwork
• Provisional cast-on
• Kitchener stitch
• Short rows (w&t)
