A taste of things to come

There's nothing like suddenly discovering your baby's body is covered in a red rash to send you into panic mode. And there's nothing like being in a country where you don't speak the language to compound that panic. Especially one where virtually nothing opens on a sunday.

Thankfully we found one doctor on duty at the local hopsital (one!) and between her English and Tom's Italian we managed to work out that Aran has Roseola, or as it's known here, the 6th childhood disease. After Googling it when we got back from the hospital everything started to make sense - the rash ocurring very suddenly after the fever has died down is how it presents itself.

Aran's Ok in himself, we've just got to keep an eye on things. And as he's never really been ill before, just the odd cold, this has given us all a bit of a scare!

Oh, I remember this so well; when out 2 year old 'baby' had his first proper temperature with rash and not eating, not sleeping - I was near histerical !
Hope he is feeling better soon.

So glad to hear that the wee man is OK. I totally sympathise with the language issue, going into hospital here has really brought home to me the need to improve my language skills if we plan to stay here in the future....hope Aran is back to full health soon.
